How to get to Bartolome Island?

There are two ways to get to Bartolomé in the Galápagos. First, by taking a Galápagos cruise that includes a trip to Bartolomé Island in its itinerary. On cruises, they visit Bartolomé Island in the afternoon, after 2 p.m. The second way to see the island is by taking a daily tour to Bartolomé Island from Santa Cruz Island.

Travel itinerary

It all starts from the meeting point assigned by the tour operator you hired for the Bartolomé tour. Then, you travel by bus for about 45 minutes until you reach the Itabaca channel. Once on board, you sail for 2 hours until you reach Bartolomé Island or the destination that corresponds to the yacht’s itinerary for that day.

Once on the island, you begin an uphill hike to the viewpoint. Undoubtedly, it has the best view in all of Galápagos. After that, lunch is served on board the yacht. Then, depending on the permit granted to the vessel by the Galápagos National Park, you will do one of the following activities:

    » Sullivan bay:

You do some snorkeling; in the dry season you can see many penguins. On the other hand, you ask to be taken directly to the beach and you can take a short walk on dry Pahoehoe lava.

    » Golden Beach:

Although I have traveled to Bartolomé Island several times, I have not been able to take the tour with the golden beach itinerary. As with any other tour, you can go snorkeling or, if you prefer, enjoy the beach.

    » Chinese Hat Island:

Two vessels have the Bartolomé + Sombrero Chino itinerary. The yachts depart on Mondays and Fridays. The snorkeling activity takes place at Sombrero Chino Island.

Bartolomes make you feel like you're on another planet.
